Leaving Hospital/Discharge
It is important to consider any difficulties that you may face upon your return home from Hospital prior to discharge.
While our nursing staff make every endeavour to ensure you have adequate information and support, please speak to your Nurse on admission if you have any questions or concerns about returning home.
After an Anaesthetic
After an anaesthetic, we recommend that you avoid making any important decisions or signing any important papers for at least 24 hours.
Discharge Time
When you are ready to leave the hospital we request that you vacate your room by 11.00am.
This will allow us to prepare for the next patient. Should you need to make arrangements to leave at a later time, please contact your nurse to enquire about late checkout procedures.
Driving
Patients are advised not to drive for at least 24 hours after a general anaesthetic.
Medication
Please ensure you have all prescribed medications when you leave hospital and your fully understand what to take when and what for. if you are in any doubt please ask your Nurse prior to returning home.
