We believe as a patient you have rights and responsibilities.
Your Rights
To be informed about your illness and to participate in decisions relating to your health and well being.
- To be treated with courtesy, consideration and professional competence.
- To be assured that your medical and personal details are treated as confidential.
- To consent to or refuse treatment at any stage, and to receive information of the consequences.
- To be respected for your beliefs, ethics, cultural and religious practices.
- To have access to pastoral / spiritual care.
- To know the names and professional status of the persons involved in providing your healthcare.
- To be entitled to personal information and/or Hospital Health Care Policies that relate to you as a patient.
- To consent or refuse to participate in teaching programs.
- To freely express your views concerning the level of care or service you have received.
Your Responsibilities
To assist in your recovery and the Hospital Staff in providing you with the best care we ask that you:
- Know your rights as a patient and if in doubt raise any queries with staff.
- Discuss your treatment with caregivers so that you can participate in your recovery.
- Report any problems with your recovery or the level of service provided as this will prevent complications or discomfort that can be avoided.
- Be considerate of other patients.
- Deal with Staff in a courteous manner andunderstand that while Staff strive to provide the best care possible care they are often required to prioritise their time according to the needs of a variety of patients.
