Carers - Family Group Homes Programme (Northern Suburbs)

Responsibilities:  

If you want more than ‘just a job’ and have a passion for helping children we would like to hear from you. We are looking for Specialist Sleep in Carers to look after up to 5 children in a Family Group Home setting. The children you will be caring for have moderate to medium needs, with emotional and behavioural developmental issues. Having being placed into our care by Department of Child Protection, the goal of our program is to provide a nurturing, loving and therapeutic home environment that will assist the children to meet their developmental and growth goals. The homes are set up to provide a ‘normal home environment’.  

The model we have implemented ensures that each home has a primary carer (or a couple carer) who live on site for 8-10 days. Respite carers then provide care for 4 days, whilst the primary carers are off site.  All the FGH’s are based in the Northern Suburbs.

Extensive experience working with children/young people who have presented challenging behaviours and/or applicants with a background in (or studying towards) child development or social work would be highly regarded. However, more than this, we are looking for both males and females, who are passionate about helping our children and who can give 100 percent.  Training in the program will be given.

Accommodation costs and vehicle/mobile telephone supplied whilst on duty.

Essential Requirements:

• A Drivers Licence
• Ability to obtain National Police Clearances
• Working with Children Check
• Department of Child Protection Clearance
• Must be able to sleep in
• Ability to be flexible
