OUR SYMBOL

Our Symbol

The MercyCare logo was developed in 1999 when Mercy Community Services joined Mercy Hospital Mount Lawley to form “MercyCare”.

To maintain symbolic links with both the founding agencies of the new, merged organisation, the crest of the Mercy Hospital logo was united with the “bringing compassion to life” mission statement synonymous with Mercy Community Services. This culmination forms the MercyCare logo of today: a structure that recognizes our past and will take the people and services of MercyCare into the future.

The symbolism of the crest of the MercyCare logo.

The MercyCare crest has been skillfully designed to reflect a heritage that is rich with the MercyCare tradition of care and compassion within the healing ministry of the Church.  The logo attempts to give a direct and clear message in a simple yet meaningful style.

The shape creates the concept of being gently enfolded in tender care as in cupped hands.

Central to the logo is the MercyCare Cross which is the essence of Mission and healing.

The three leaf structures were originally symbolic of each facet of Hospital life……….

These three leaves can also be considered representative of the original service divisions of MercyCare: Mercy Hospital, Mercy Aged Care and Mercy Community Care (incorporating Family & Children's Services and Employment Services).

The logo has two arms…the left arm which is continuous and emerges from the cross denotes the wholeness of healing and the intersecting right arm represents the caring and solidarity of the staff in the supporting role of our Mission at MercyCare.
