Community Care Programme
The Community Care program assists unaccompanied minors (refugees) released under the Community Detention Program. The program provides arrangements that support a person’s detention placement in the community, while the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) resolves their immigration outcome. The service is currently provided from two houses, staffed 24hrs a day, with a capacity for 12 young people.
The aim of the program is to integrate and support clients into the Australian way of life, through assisting service users to access other services such as education and health. We also encourage social and recreational activities and ensure young people are cared for in a safe, secure and warm environment.
Referrals come through the Department of Immigration and the Australian Red Cross.
