MercyCare Early Learning Philosophy
Our Early Learning Centres provide children a stimulating, innovative and caring environment, fostering natural curiosity. Creating a thirst for knowledge builds a love of learning and strong sense of self. We support children to become competent and capable learners with an understanding of themselves, their community and the world around them.
Our programs and educators provide learning experiences building on children’s strengths, while challenging them to explore their potential. Children are encouraged to ask questions as they build an understanding of the world and their place in it, while learning to live and play happily and purposefully with others.
Providing an environment where children feel loved, accepted and secure our centres act as an extension of home. We foster strong partnerships with families, creating a smooth transition from home to child care. Parent participation is encouraged and educators work in partnership with parents to optimize the learning and development of each child.
Differences are embraced and acceptance of others is encouraged, supporting everyone to challenge and succeed.
The national Quality Standards focuses on ensuring that the educational program and practice is stimulating, engaging and enhancing children’s learning and development.
The Kindy program is based on the Early Years Learning Framework and nurtures the development of life skills, and compliments children’s experiences, opportunities and relationships which is vital for transition to school.
The learning outcomes for the Kindy four-year old children include:
- Concepts –the children have a better understanding of big/little, hard/soft, empty/full
- Pre- writing and reading skills
- Memory and recall skills
- Problem solving
- Maths and science
The children also develop their social and language skills, essential for their transition to school.
