Mercy Hospital Mount Lawley offers beautifully appointed private and shared rooms, all with ensuite facilities, television and telephone, many with sweeping views of the Swan River.
Our team of Staff and Medical Practitioners are committed to providing personalised care that ensures the privacy, dignity, independence and individuality of patients and families is upheld at all times.
Alcohol
Patients and visitors are advised that consumption of alcohol is not recommended whilst on the hospital premises. Visitors are asked not to supply patients with alcohol without permission. A breach of this guideline may be detrimental to your health.
Bibles
A Bible is located in your bedside locker. Bibles have been supplied by Gideon International.
Boarders
Mercy Hospital welcomes boarders into some private rooms, but unfortunately cannot accommodate boarders in shared rooms. For information on who can board with a patient click here to download our Information for Boarders Brochures.
Chapel
The Mercy Hospital Chapel is located on the lower ground floor of the Hospital near the lifts. It is open to all patients and their families. All are welcome to use this tranquil place for reflection, prayer or a few quiet moments. Catholic Mass is celebrated in the Chapel during the week. Please check with staff for mass times.
Coffee and Tea-making Facilities
Visitors and patients to the Family Birthing Unit are welcome to use the Community Room (located within the unit) and those visiting the Third Floor are welcome to use the lounge area. Visitors to the Mercy Restorative Unit may use the dining room facilities. Refreshments may be purchased from the Mercy Cafe located on the ground floor of the Hospital.
Mercy Cafe
The Mercy Cafe is located on the ground floor of the hospital, and is available for patients, visitors and staff to use.
Monday - Thursday 8.00am - 6.30pm
Friday 7.00am - 6.30pm
Saturday 8.00am - 3.30pm
Sunday - Closed
Snack food, cool drinks and confectionery items are available from the Mercy Cafe Vending Services between 7.00am and 7.00pm seven days per week.
Discharge against Medical Advice
Whilst you are within your rights to discharge yourself against medical advice you will be required to sign documentation that absolves the hospital of any responsibility.
Electrical Appliances
You are encouraged not to bring any electrical appliances into the hospital. If these are required electrical appliances, including mobile and portable device chargers, must be checked by the Engineering Department prior to use. Please see your ward clerk to arrange this. Battery operated equipment is acceptable. The Hospital telephone lines must not be used at anytime for internet access.
Hairdressing & Beauty Services
The Ward Clerk can arrange an appointment with a visiting hairdresser or Beautician if required or you may prefer to have your own hairdresser attend you. A hairdresser attends the Mercy Restorative Unit weekly and appointments can be made by contacting the ward clerk of the Mercy Restorative or Ursula Frayne's Units.
Interpreter Service
Interpreter services are available during your stay. Please contact the Admissions Department if you require assistance.
Laundry
Patients are requested to make their own arrangements for laundering personal items.
Meals
Our Catering Department offers menus with a wide selection of delicious meal choices (including vegetarian) prepared on-site for your enjoyment. We also cater for special dietary requirements such as gluten and lactose free, Kosher and Halal etc. Meals and refreshments are served between the hours of:
Breakfast 7.30am – 8.15am, Morning Tea 10.00am – 10.45am
Lunch Midday – 12.15pm - 1.00pm, Afternoon Tea 2.45pm - 3.30pm
Dinner 6.00pm – 5.15pm - 6.00pm, Supper 7.15pm - 8.00pm
Mobile Telephones
Mobile telephones may interfere with patient monitoring equipment in highly instrumented areas, e.g. Operating Suite, Recovery Room and are not permitted to be used in these areas. Please check with staff in other areas before using your mobile.
Patient Condition Enquiries
Out of respect for your privacy, Hospital Policy is to inform relatives and friends of only basic general information about your condition. Calls will be transferred to your room unless otherwise requested by you. If at any time you do not wish to be disturbed by telephone calls, please contact the Telephonist by dialing 89.
Quality Management
Mercy Hospital Mount Lawley is fully accredited by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS). This accreditation is an official acknowledgement of our commitment to continuous quality improvement in the safe and timely care provided to you by our staff.
Room Allocations
Every attempt is made to meet your request for room type, however they are subject to availablity and clinical priority. Occasionally there may be times where we need to transfer you to another room during your stay.
Smoking
Mercy Hospital is a smoke free environment. Smoking is not permitted within the hospital buildings or grounds.
Special Needs
We are receptive to the special needs of all patients. Please advise of your requirements to the Admissions Department upon arrival, the nurse caring for you or the Nurse Unit Manager on your Ward.
Telephone
All rooms (with the exception of the Mercy Restorative and Ursula Frayne Units) have a personal telephone with direct dial facilities for local calls. There is no charge for local calls, please dial 0 for an external line. Phone cards are required for long distance and international calls. Public telephones are also located in the main foyer.
Valuables
We strongly recommend that you leave all valuables at home including, large sums of money or jewellery. Particular care should be taken if you choose to bring portable technologies. Whilst on the hospital premises your property shall be your own responsibility and we encourage you to store your belongings safety.
Mercy Hospital will not be liable for any loss or damage to property.
