Leaving Hospital/Discharge

Leaving hospitalIt is important to consider any difficulties that you may face upon your return home from Hospital prior to discharge. Please ensure someone is able to pick you up at 10am on the day of your discharge.

While our nursing staff make every endeavour to ensure you have adequate information and support, please speak to your Nurse on admission if you have any questions or concerns about returning home.

Discharge Time

When you are ready for discharge we request that you vacate your room by 10am, which will allow us to prepare for the next patient. Should you need to leave at a later time, please contact your nurse to enquire about the late checkout procedure. Please note you may be asked to move to one of our comfortable lounges during this time if you are able to do so.

After an Anaesthetic

After an anaesthetic, we recommend that you avoid making any important decisions or signing any important papers for at least 24 hours.

Driving

Patients are advised not to drive for at least 24 hours after a general anaesthetic.

Medication

Please ensure you have all prescribed medications when you leave hospital and you fully understand what to take when and what for. If you are in any doubt please ask your Nurse prior to returning home.
