The secret to wedded bliss is simple according to a couple who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at MercyCare in Wembley in April: first and foremost it’s just a matter of enjoying each other’s company.

After 60 years together, MercyCare Residential Aged Care resident Lloyd Taylor and his wife Phyllis celebrated their special diamond wedding anniversary on April 17.

Mr and Mrs Taylor married at St Hilda’s Church in North Perth on April 17, 1954 – which also happened to be Mrs Taylor’s 19th birthday.

Now the couple are 86 and 79 respectively but they’re both had a great time at their party with family and friends for their diamond wedding anniversary.

Mrs Taylor said the secret to wedded bliss was simple: she and her husband have always enjoyed each other’s company.

“There’s no secret really, we were just very compatible and enjoyed life together; we’ve travelled everywhere together, we’ve been over the world practically and just had a good time,” she said.

“We’ve had our ups and downs like everyone else, but we’ve had a wonderful life together, with three wonderful children and six beautiful grandchildren.”
