International Nurses Day May 12

Positive Practice Environments: Quality Workplaces = Quality Patient Care!

International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.  It provides an opportunity to especially appreciate the role that nurses play in the care of our community.  The Sisters of Mercy have a long association with nursing as several Sisters served alongside Florence Nightingale in the Crimean War.  Of course the Mercy tradition of nursing continues today with the carers at Mercy Hospital and Mercy Aged Care.

Whilst many other MercyCare staff contribute to the compassionate care of our Hospital patients and Aged Care clients, it is our nurses whose hands and hearts directly "touch" (in every sense of the term: spiritually, emotionally and physically) them most.

May the work of our nurses continue to bring healing to all those they touch.
