Mercy Midwives do it again

A Mercy Hospital Mount Lawley midwife has been awarded Johnson's and Johnson's WA Midwife of the Year award for 2011.

Haydee Cowper, former Clinical Nurse Manager of the Family Birthing Unit, received the award for assisting a young family with the birth of their baby at Mercy Hospital in 2010. The award is selected by Johnson and Johnson and the Australian College of Midwives Incorporated - WA. This is the second year in a row that Mercy Hospital has received the award after Joan Wild - Clinical Educator, was the 2010 winner.

Even without these accolades, the whole team at Mercy Hospital are committed to providing the best care for their patients. According to Angela Fyneman "Assisting families to have their baby the way they have planned, if possible, is very important to the midwives in the Family Birthing Unit at Mercy Hospital".

Last year Mercy Hospital welcomed over 1400 babies, and this year the number is set to grow substantially with the support of new specialist Obstetricians who are based at the hospital. "At Mercy Hospital we welcome families to be involved in all aspects of their care during this very special time" said Angela Fyneman.
