Opening of our new Cannington office

MercyCare recently opened its new premises in Cannington, paving the way for our presence in the south east corridor of metropolitan Perth. The office is located in a prime position at 6 Cecil Avenue, directly opposite the Carousel Shopping Centre, Cannington.

Initially, the office will be home to both our Status Resolution Support Service (SRSS) and Reconnect program. SRSS is the name given to the Federal Government initiative to provide support services for asylum seekers. We believe people seeking asylum are some of the most disadvantaged people in Australia – struggling to survive while preserving their dignity, physical and mental health. MercyCare has been providing support services to asylum seekers through its Community Detention program for many years so we have the expertise and background to provide high quality care to these vulnerable people.

Our Reconnect program delivers community-based early intervention services to assist young people aged 12 to 18 years who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, and their families. Reconnect assists young people to stabilise their living situation and improve their level of engagement with family, work, education, training and their local community.

The Reconnect program has demonstrated its effectiveness in improving family relationships and preventing young people leaving their homes and becoming homeless or being at risk of homelessness. It is a federally funded initiative.

Over time, other services will be delivered from our Cannington office in response to community need. We are committed to realising our vision for people and communities to thrive.
