PRESS RELEASE: Mercy Employment Fremantle Team Nominated for National Award

Mercy Employment Fremantle
Team Nominated for National Award After Helping Turn Darkness into Light

Mercy Employment at Fremantle has been nominated for a prestigious national award that honours the organisations that have helped people who have suffered incredible adversity gain employment or rejoin the workforce.

Mercy Employment Fremantle has been nominated for the Innovation & Service Excellence award in the 2008 National Employment Services Awards for Excellence.

With workforce and social participation on the top of the Federal Government’s agenda, the awards acknowledge the courage of people who have faced incredible personal, social, educational, vocational or physical barriers to gain employment, and the hard work of the employment consultants and employers who help these job seekers achieve their dreams.

Judging will take place in late July, with Mercy Employment Fremantle competing against other Employment Services teams from all over Australia who are vying for the prestigious national Innovation & Service Excellence award.

This is just one of four categories in the Awards, with Champion Employer of the Year, Employment Consultant of the Year, and Achiever of the Year Awards also being granted.

The Champion Employer, Employment Consultant and Innovation and Service Excellence winners will have demonstrated passion and dedication in helping job seekers get back into the workforce, while the Achiever of the Year (a former job seeker) entrants have overcome tremendous hardship to have found work in the last year.

NESA* CEO, Sally Sinclair, said “While the awards recognise a special few, all Australia’s contracted employment assistance providers have done a remarkable job in helping millions of people into work.”

“This year marks ten years of contracted employment services in Australia . During this time, Job Network employment services providers have played a vital role in seeing the unemployment rate reduced from 8.1 percent to just 4.2 percent.”

“This is a great testament to the overall effectiveness and dedication of employment services providers in this country. We are now so proud to be acknowledging the hard-working individuals who have contributed so greatly to the success of the industry,” Ms Sinclair said.

The 2008 NESA gala awards presentation will be held in Cairns on Thursday 14 August 2008. If Mercy Employment Fremantle is named as one of the national finalists, then they will receive free tickets to this gala awards dinner.
