MercyCare volunteer driver Mark is changing lives one day at a time by driving residents of Davis House out and about and giving them a chance to enjoy their day. After being recommended to give volunteering a go following a motorcycle accident, Mark found that giving back to the community was not only rewarding but also an excellent way to make a difference in the lives of others.
As a volunteer driver, Mark has had many unforgettable experiences. His favourite memories involve taking the residents through the city and watching their faces light up joyfully. This experience has also given Mark a unique perspective on dementia and the invaluable life skills of patience, empathy, and understanding.
Mark encourages others to volunteer to contribute to their community and make a difference. He believes the key to success is to be passionate about what you’re doing, adding, “You’ve got to want to give your time”.
Mark is an exemplary volunteer driver for MercyCare. His dedication and passion for helping the residents of Davis House have been invaluable, and they look forward to his visits. Mark has shown that it’s possible to make a difference in the lives of others with just one day of volunteering.
His unique perspective on dementia and the skills acquired through his volunteer work make him an outstanding asset to MercyCare. We thank Mark for his invaluable contribution and encourage everyone to follow his lead and volunteer to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
