MercyCare Invests In Management Staff

As part of MercyCare’s commitment to engaging and empowering people, over 20 staff recently commenced a Leadership & Management course facilitated by AIM WA. MercyCare are investing in management staff by committing to nurture and create pathways for emerging leaders within the business. 

The program is expected to have a positive, widespread impact on the organisation. Participants range from staff in all services of the business including Aged Care, Home Care, Early Learning, Community and Corporate service. 

Emerging Leaders Program Overview 

  • Leadership and communication skills 
  • Coordination of business operational plans and priorities 
  • Supporting the learning and development of teams and individuals 
  • Developing and using emotional intelligence 
  • Implementing continuous improvement

Participants have the option of applying the learning from the course towards a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management.  

The initiative was developed in line with the 2023 MercyCare Strategic Plan with a focus on investing into our services and people, to strengthen mission capability.

Investing in emerging leaders 

MercyCare CEO Anthony Smith introduced the course and explained the importance to the organisation. Mr Smith reminded staff that this was their journey and that “You are in control of your own learning.” 

The staff members commencing the course were eager to learn and approached the course with enthusiasm and an open mind which created a great learning environment.  

Martin Wandmaker, Executive Director of People, Culture and Brand is looking forward to seeing the learning put into practice “Successful graduates of the program will play a key role in our efforts to develop a pipeline of leadership talent in MercyCare”

Success of the campaign so far

With the course now well underway, participants are starting to put their learning in to practice in the workplace.
