If you are affected by the Kimberley floods, please visit the Department of Fire & Emergency Services for emergency information and support.

The impact of the recent floods in the Kimberley continues to be felt and is expected to be felt for quite some time.

The last few of weeks have been particularly challenging, with our teams in Derby and Broome working around the clock to ensure that all guests continue to receive a high-quality of service and supported to access essential local services.

Our Kimberley team is working closely with government departments and other local support services to source solutions for stranded community members in Derby, with many still staying at DASSA and BASSA.

On Wednesday, Sabine Winton, Minister for Early Childhood Education; Child Protection; Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence; Community Services visited Derby where she met with many local support services including Derby Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation (DASSA) Acting Coordinator, Tamara O’Reilly, to discuss the current situation. Community spirit was strong on the day, with service providers and community leaders sharing insights on the work being done on the ground to alleviate the pressure on the township of Derby.

The wet season will continue for another 3-4 months, potentially adding more rain and complications for communities in our North West.
