Home is Not a Place; It’s a Feeling

When you choose MercyCare for the next stage in your aged care journey, we want you to feel comfortable, cared for and at home.

For us, home is a gathering space for family and friends to come together. It’s a place of feeling safe, of belonging, of being understood and of being cared for.

With a legacy extending back to the Sisters of Mercy, MercyCare has cared for Western Australians for over 170 years.

Our vision is for people and communities to thrive; we believe that every person matters, and we care about what matters to you.

This vision and person-centred approach are fundamental to creating MercyCare’s new Maddington Residential Aged Care home. The facility is purposely more homely in its design, look and feel than others in the area.

Rather than living in an enormous facility with hundreds of residents, we have listened to what the community has asked for and have complemented this with best industry practice to re-imagine what aged and dementia care can feel like and how you can thrive.

Our new aged care home is a place where you can grow old in the community you’re connected to and have called ‘home’ for many years.

It’s where having your friends and family, and all that is familiar to you, is close by, as it is important to feel safe, secure and happy. We understand the diverse and rich mix of cultures in the area, and we embrace your individuality.

“ We have an established connection to the Maddington community and understand the aged care needs in the suburb and its surrounds. I am proud that MercyCare is continuing to invest in the area with our new state-of-the-art aged care residence and committing to providing services here for a long time to come.” Anthony Smith, MercyCare’s Chief Executive Officer, stated.

Located off Maddington Road and adjacent to our existing aged care home, the new facility will be home to 108 residents and comprise six small houses of only 18 beds spread over two levels.

We are creating a humble, relatable and purposeful living environment where residents feel at home.

The home has a domestic and intimate feel, with central living areas and dining settings for sharing a meal or enjoying activities and conversations with friends and family.

There are family-style kitchens designed to encourage independence, where you can prepare your own fresh meals and celebrate the ‘every day’.

Bedrooms feel comfortable and familiar while also supporting the provision of high-quality clinical and personal care.

Connection with nature is a key feature, and external areas are designed to encourage you to take advantage of outdoor areas.

There’s a wellness hub and a social café for a welcome cuppa and a chat, as well as quiet nooks where you can have privacy.

You can enjoy a therapeutic garden with fruit trees and vegetable patches where you can grow plants with your loved ones.

Our team of experienced nurses, therapists, and carers have strong values of compassion and respect and will support you in continuing to do what you love.

The home is the result of careful planning, consultation and design by some of Australia’s leading architects, designers, landscapers, and planners.

It will then be operated by career professionals who are experts in their fields, from Care Companions to Cleaners and from Chefs to Nurses.

MercyCare Maddington is a beautiful development that captures the history and heritage of the area and provides warm, welcoming homes for our older Australians.
