Marketer finds smarter ways to do business

The Innovation Excellence Award is given to a person who demonstrates innovation and makes a positive difference at MercyCare and the community.

Over the past 12 months, the marketing and communications coordinator has used data insights and customer feedback to refine processes and develop evidence-based strategies that enhance the customer experience and generate greater results for MercyCare’s programs and services.

“As a not-for-profit-organisation, it is important that we are able to work in a cost-effective way, so innovation is super important for everything we do.” Said Oscar.

“The innovation award is one that I am very proud of. I like to approach every task with an open mind so that I can be flexible and tackle it in a way that gives us the best outcome.”

Oscar demonstrates MercyCare’s values of Excellence, Respect and Compassion through his curiosity, innovative thinking, and determination to deliver the best outcomes possible for our service users, stakeholders and overall organisation.

“I enjoy being able to finish a workday knowing that I’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life. I was attracted to MercyCare because of the diversity of services, which means I get the privilege of working across Early Learning, Aged Care, Disability Services and all our Family and Community services.”

In his short time at MercyCare, Oscar has already been involved in some significant projects, with perhaps the most noteworthy being his role in helping the business develop a set of Values Artworks.

“From being present at the initial meeting with Noongar Artist Peter Farmer, all the way through to coordinating the launch this year, being part of this project has been wonderful, and it has been great to see the positive reaction from staff and the MercyCare community.” Oscar told us.

“The best part of my role is seeing the amazing work that MercyCare staff and volunteers do every day. If I can help by making their administration tasks more efficient, telling their stories, or just making their lives easier, I’m doing my job.”
