NRW23 A Voice for Generations

We started the week by joining our fellow Western Australians at the Reconciliation WA NRW Virtual Breakfast. The turnout of staff and community members was inspiring.

The theme of NRW 2023, “Be a Voice for Generations,” resonated deeply with us. Keynote speakers Ken Wyatt AM and Craig Foster AM moved us with their discussions on the Voice to Parliament referendum and Australia’s history of reconciliation efforts. It reinforced our commitment to be active voices for reconciliation in tangible ways.

Our journey continued as we participated in the Sorry Day Walk on the 26th of May, commemorating the release of the Bringing Them Home Report. Supporting our partners Yokai, we stood together at the Stolen Generations Memorial in Wellington Square, East Perth, reflecting on the significance of this day.

Our Broome and Derby Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation joyously celebrated with activities that brought the community together. The team organised an exhibition featuring inspiring Aboriginal individuals and events, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and achievements.

The community also had the opportunity to collaborate and design a vibrant banner symbolising unity and reconciliation. It was a joy-filled day; everyone savoured delicious food and delighted in the colourful face painting. These activities exemplified our commitment to honouring Aboriginal culture and fostering a sense of togetherness.
