Welcome to MercyCare's Early Learning Centre in Bedford!
Here's a little about us...
We are housed in the old St Peter’s School building on Salisbury Street; this means big, bright rooms with plenty of multi-purpose areas for fun activities or relaxing quiet time. The outdoor spaces are great too, with separate spaces for different ages and a huge new nature play space for everyone to enjoy.
We are a 120 place centre and offer flexible half-days, full-days, before and after school care and vacation care to children aged between six weeks and 12 years old.
What’s our Philosophy of Care? We understand and recognise that children are active learners and learn best through play-based experiences. Our experienced educators generate reflective and responsive plans to create the potential for both intentional and spontaneous learning opportunities for children to become successful, competent and capable learners with clear understanding and connection to their sense of self, the community and the world around them.

Parents at our centre love the peace of mind that comes with the app we use to communicate with them throughout the day. Xplor provides real time updates with photos about what your child is enjoying and discovering with their friends and educators.
We also have a brand new School Readiness Program for children aged 3+, which provides an educational, fun way to get your child ready for school. The program’s holistic approach is designed and delivered by our Early Childhood Teacher and gives children the opportunity to build their confidence and independence to take the next step in their learning journey.

Children of all ages also have the opportunity to contribute to our veggie and herb gardens. Not only do we teach children about where their food comes from, but they learn about how to care for things and how things grow and develop.
The interactions between older and younger children are a key part in fostering confidence and friendships between ages. Siblings are encouraged to visit each other throughout the day in the centre, and our ‘Helping Hands’ program in before and after school care encourages older children to assist younger ones.
'Sam loves the variety of activities and comes home singing so many new songs!’

‘Big shout out to all the wonderful staff at Bedford MercyCare! Both our girls love going to day care and afterschool care. Over the past 7yrs it is so lovely to build a relationship with the staff and to see the same faces over the years. I take my hat off to all of you, I know some days are more challenging than others, but you are so positive and still have a smile at the end of the day!’
