Wembley Early Learning Centre

Childcare near you

Heritage buildings and expansive grassed play areas sit high on the hill overlooking Lake Monger at the beautiful Wembley Early Learning Centre. Situated within the landscaped grounds of MercyCare’s Wembley precinct, our centre offers care that reflects each unique child and their family.

Part of a community

We aim to be an extension of home and we work closely with families to support children to become active, healthy members of their community.

We believe when a child feels loved, safe and secure, they then feel comfortable to explore and grow in their environment.

Our diverse, multicultural service strongly supports children in developing their sense of belonging to their community.

We aim to work closely with families, children, and educators and welcome parent input at all times.

Space to explore

Wembley is MercyCare’s largest and most established child care centre.

Within three separate buildings are spacious areas for babies, toddlers and kindy children.

Our centre has three playgrounds, including one with real lawn and huge trees, so it is more like a park than a day-care play area.

The large verandahs around each building allow children to have outside time even on rainy days.

In the centre of our grounds is a vegetable plot where we rotate plants such as spinach, tomatoes, cauliflower and lettuce.

Not only do we teach children about where their food comes from, but they learn about how to care for things and how things grow and develop.

We have established lime, mango, apple, banana palm and mulberry trees as well as pet chickens.

Special interactions

Through our partnership with MercyCare’s Residential Aged Care facility located within the same precinct, children take part in intergenerational experiences. Creating this opportunity means children are exposed to the traditions and wisdoms of previous generations while developing respect and empathy for older members of the community.

We have an early childhood teacher onsite for our kindy children. As optional extras we offer weekly Mandarin language classes for four and five-year olds, Happy Feet dance and fitness classes, and yoga classes.

A learning journey

We have an adventurous teddy bear who spends a week with a different family to learn how each family spends their weekends. Recapping journal entries from visits encourages children to learn about different cultures and lifestyles in a comfortable, fun way.

Stay Connected

Parents at our centre love the peace of mind that comes with the app we use to communicate with them throughout the day. Xplor provides real time updates with photos about what your child is enjoying and discovering with their friends and educators.

We offer flexible care arrangements, including half days (7am to 12.30pm or 12.30pm to 6pm), casual bookings and the option for a 10-hour session which means you can make the most out of your childcare subsidy across the week.

We are situated on MercyCare's main site on Barrett Street in Wembley, tucked away from busy streets but still easily accessible from in and around the CBD.

  • We believe that every child is a unique little person.

  • We want to form meaningful relationships with every familiy.

  • We believe that our staff share our values of respect, integrity, courage, excellence, compassion and justice. They are committed to providing an amazing experience for each child and family that becomes a part of our community.

  • We are committed to making sure your children are safe in a nurturing environment. We are on an external accreditation process with the Australian Childhood Foundation.

I enjoy creating an environment and atmosphere that reflects MercyCare’s values and ensures the children feel as safe and secure as possible.

I love seeing how, as educators, we can make such a positive impact on the future of children, making foundations and memories for them to keep forever.

Sharing my passion with other educators is very rewarding. I love that our team at the centre is like one big family.

The families and educators have built strong and trusting relationships and there are always a lot of happy and smiling faces around.

"You all do an amazing job nurturing our children everyday and creating fantastic experiences!! The children are happy and as a parent that means more to us than any tick box! I have been blown away by the outstanding care Amara has received, each and every single room has had beautiful teachers. They have moulded our beautiful adventure girl, and she has never wanted for anything!"

"I am writing to let you know how much I have appreciate the excellent job Jennifer has done over the past 4 months while my 2-year-old daughter Eliana has been attending the Gumnuts room. I can really see Eliana’s confidence thrived thanks to Jennifer’s nurturing and creativity she provides in her class. Eliana always looks forward to seeing her and all of the other happy children. Even though it's difficult to be away from her while I'm working, I have peace of mind in knowing that she is in such good hands during those times. Thank you again so very much."
