Olive Harvest Expression of Interest

In a celebration of tradition and community spirit, MercyCare is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2024 Olive Harvest.

Held at the MercyCare Wembley Intergenerational Campus on Barrett Street, this event promises to connect with the roots of the past and sow seeds of hope for the future.

The Olive Harvest, deeply rooted in history since its inception by the Benedictine Monks, is a cornerstone event for MercyCare.

Volunteers will play a pivotal role in preserving this tradition, with opportunities for both morning and afternoon shifts available.

Event Details:

  • Date: The date for the event will be confirmed closer to May to ensure optimal harvesting conditions for our olive trees.
  • Time: Two shifts available – AM and PM

  • Venue: MercyCare Wembley Site, 18 Barrett Street, Wembley

Get Involved and Make a Difference

MercyCare invites the community to be a part of this meaningful initiative. Volunteer opportunities include air rake operators, olive gatherers, and sorters.

These roles contribute to a collective effort to revive the age-old tradition.

The harvested olives will support MercyCare’s Family and Community Services.

Additionally, olive oil will be a key ingredient in soap-making workshops benefiting refugee participants, providing them new skills and opportunities.
