Kelmscott Early Learning Centre

Childcare near you

See your little one’s curiosity grow as they learn through play by exploring nature and the world around them at MercyCare’s Kelmscott Early Learning Centre.

Understanding our surrounds

Through our programs we support your children with an understanding of themselves, their community and the world around them.

This includes teaching them about the environment, recognising the unique role of Australia’s First Peoples and celebrating multicultural Australia.

We do this through a rich variety of experiences, which are fun, engaging and educational, building their confidence and independence as they grow, develop and find their space in the world.

Connection to nature

To develop their interest in nature and the environment all children are invited to get involved with our on-site vegetable garden, learning how to grow healthy food and giving them a sense of achievement as they watch their efforts pay off when harvest time comes around.

Our centre is also registered with the ‘Adopt-a-Spot’ program; created by Keep Australia Beautiful to encourage everyone to do their part to help keep Australia tidy.

The children regularly help to keep our little patch free from litter and learn to respect our natural environment at the same time.

Hands on

The children love caring for our animals - whether they’re helping to feed our chicken, Ruby Flower; sprinkling flakes into the fish tank for our two goldies; or patting our friendly guinea pigs, Vegemite and Oreo – they seem to love the interaction and sense of responsibility they get from our centre pets.

F is for fun!

Our MiniChef program is a hit with all our age groups and we love to watch the children’s enthusiasm as they work together creating nutritious and yummy meals using ingredients they’ve helped to grow in our healthy veggie garden.

Families are also invited to enrol their children in our optional interactive dance and movement program, Happy Feet.

Ages and stages

Our centre operates across four rooms (babies, toddlers, kindy and schoolies) and accepts children as young as six weeks old.

Before and after school care  and vacation care is currently available for students up to Year Six.

The centre has two separate outdoor play areas, where children of different ages can explore and discover.

Each area is filled with age-appropriate equipment to encourage every child to get active and safely explore their surroundings.

Stay connected

We know how hard it can be leaving your little one for the day, especially if they didn’t settle very well at drop off. That’s why parents love our real-time communication app ‘Xplor’, which allows them to receive updates and photos throughout the day to give them peace of mind that their child is happy and enjoying their day.

Our flexible care options are designed for your convenience. We offer both full-days and half-days to suit your family’s requirements.

Our centre is conveniently located a kilometre from the train station, just off Albany Highway (entry off Ottaway Street), making drop-offs and pick-ups quick and easy.

As a mother myself, I fully recognise the importance of early childhood development.

It was my time spent at home with my son that made me realise my passion for early learning.

I found myself structuring our days at home like his day at daycare; feeling a great sense of pride as I watched him learn through our play activities and thinking to myself… this could be the job for me!

I completed my Diploma in Children’s Services and began working in the industry in 2006 before progressing to a managerial role in 2010 and joining MercyCare’s Kelmscott Early Learning Centre in 2018.

Supporting, guiding and inspiring children to be excited about the world around them is what motivates me as an early childhood educator, and every day I’m surrounded by a team of dedicated educators who share this passion. Their can-do attitude and think-outside-the-box approach to creating exciting new experiences and opportunities for our children makes everyday fun and interesting. I’m just so proud of our fantastic centre and the quality of care we provide.

“We have been bringing our kids to the centre since our daughter was 6 months old (she is now almost 5). The educators have seen our kids grow up and now our eldest participates in before and after school care at the centre whilst our youngest (2) attends a few days a week. From the beginning we have felt welcomed and staff have always addressed any concerns we have raised. We enjoy the family feel of the centre and the caring and nurturing environment that all the educators promote wholeheartedly.” - Philip & Kate Ameduri

“Out of all the childcare centres I have used over the years this would have to be one of the best. The staff are always kind and helpful. My daughter loves them. The facility is kept clean and tidy and there often seems to be upgrades to keep things modern. I have noticed the staff put a good amount of effort into changing the play areas around regularly and making up new activities to keep the kids stimulated. They even have pets and have had a chicken hatchery so the kids can watch the baby chicks hatch.” - Corey

"My daughter only goes once a week but the staff are amazing. At the beginning my daughter wouldn’t walk in (I had to carry) but now she is excited to get there and always tells me “that’s my day care mum!” It has taken a while for me to find one she likes but this is definitely the one!” - Samantha Nash
