Settlement Services

MercyCare Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) service supports humanitarian entrants and other newly arrived migrants to establish a new life and feel part of the community in Australia.

What Do We Do?

We deliver our programs in a way that offers services for people to Connect, Work, and Belong in Australia.

We do this by providing people with:

  • Settlement-related information
  • Advice
  • Advocacy
  • Help with using mainstream and other
    relevant services

Our Services

Casework (Connect)

Person-centred casework services connect you with services and the community. These services are available from our Mirrabooka office and include assistance with general settlement issues such as housing, health, finance, family, and social support.

Outreach (Connect)

We understand that it may not always be easy to come to our office, which is why we offer services in outreach locations. Some of these locations include Balga TAFE, the City of Wanneroo, and the City of Swan. For a full list of current outreach locations, contact us by calling 08 6298 9888.

Employment (Work)

Getting a job is one of the most important parts of the settlement process. We offer employment services that assist people on their employment journey. This includes individualised casework support and
group workshops. Our goal is to build knowledge around how to get and keep a job in Australia while providing real-world experience through work placements as well as connections with paid employment opportunities.

Workshops (Belong)

MercyCare regularly runs information sessions on themes relevant to your settlement journey. This includes information on health, Centrelink, family well-being, legal, housing, and other useful topics.

Citizenship Workshops & Drop-In Computer Sessions (Belong)

MercyCare provides support to help people pass the Citizenship Test, which includes monthly workshops and weekly drop-in computer sessions. In these sessions, people will gain knowledge and prepare to sit the Citizenship test.
