Safe Steps

Empowering young people through free AOD education and tailored support.

Who we support

Safe Steps is a free program designed for young people aged 15 to 25 who are seeking support around Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD). We work with individuals or small groups, providing education and practical strategies to help manage substance use and improve overall wellbeing.

Our Approach: Support that meets you where you’re at

We understand that every young person’s journey is unique. Safe Steps provides respectful, confidential support that focuses on your goals, not anyone else’s. Our team works from a Harm Reduction model, which means we aim to reduce the negative impacts of substance use while helping you stay safe and make informed choices.

We support you in a way that suits your needs — whether that’s one-on-one or in a small group setting.

How Safe Steps can help you

Our goal is to help you feel stable, healthy, and supported — especially if you’re working to maintain your housing or improve your general wellbeing.

We can offer:

  • Weekly or fortnightly support sessions (flexible to your needs)
  • Harm minimisation education around Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD)
  • Support with your health, wellbeing and daily life
  • Information and referrals to other services, including specialist AOD programs, education and peer groups
  • Guidance to help you set and achieve your personal goals
  • Practical support to help you sustain your tenancy and stay connected to community services, these include:
    • Weekly or fortnightly support
    • Harm minimisation and education regarding Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD)
