28 Days of Affordable, Family-Friendly Housing in the Heart of Town
We’re proud to share that as of Tuesday July 1, 2025, MercyCare will officially begin running the Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation located in central Kalgoorlie.
Undertaking this project aligns with our organisation’s strong commitment to reducing instances of homelessness and housing instability throughout the state. We will also continue to advocate for the increase of long-term and permanent housing solutions within the region.
Our Family and Community Services directorate will be responsible for the operation of KASSA for the interim while the Department of Communities searches for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) to take over on a long-term basis.
Ideal for Health Visits, Training, Family Gatherings, or Cultural Events
KASSA will be a great accommodation option for those visiting town to see loved ones, attend vital appointments, or reconnect with their community.
In addition to a number of amenities including two daily meals, laundry facilities and Wi-Fi access, the facility will also offer guests with the opportunity to speak with friendly staff who can help to organise appointments with a number of available support services.
It should be noted that while Kalgoorlie Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation is an Aboriginal-specific accommodation service, certain non-Aboriginal family members or carers may be eligible to stay.
MercyCare is proud to be able to deliver this service to work towards ensuring that children, families, and individuals throughout Western Australia can receive the support they need to stay connected, speak up and thrive.
