A big thank you to our nurses

International Nurses Day is a day that we pause to appreciate the tireless work being done by our nurses.

It takes a special person to be a nurse and there has never been a more challenging time to do this important work than during a pandemic.

Nurses play a pivotal role at MercyCare, providing their skills, experience and compassion to residents across our five Residential Aged Care homes, as well as in the community through our Community and Home Support services.

“All MercyCare nurses whether working in residential aged care  or supporting people in the community bring their own diverse skills and experience to their work, but they must all have one thing in common – compassion,” says MercyCare Aged Care and Disability Services Executive Joanne Penman.

“I admire the dedication of our nurses, they make a real difference to people’s lives.

“Even throughout these challenging and uncertain times, their dedication and commitment to their work helps to ensure that those who depend on them get the care they need, they are extraordinary people.

“So to all our nurses who work tirelessly to help those in need, we thank you for your compassion, courage and dedication.”
