MercyCare throws colourful celebration for NAIDOC Week

Paying homage to this year’s theme, Heal Country, the celebrations highlighted the importance of both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians working together to protect the land on which we live.

Also on display at the event was a beautifully handcrafted sand mural — a joint effort by MercyCare staff — which was marked by multiple handprints and took centre stage in the courtyard of McAuley House.

But the highlight of the day was lively performances by four talented young Aboriginal dancers from Aboriginal Dancers Koolangka’s Kreate – KoolgangKuz Kreate who performed some traditional dances as well as their own choreographed dance routine.

The event also supported a local Aboriginal catering business, which provided an array of tasty finger foods for guests.
