At our Kelmscott Residential Aged Care Home, we are proud to highlight the inspiring volunteer journey of Elaine Dack. Elaine’s connection with MercyCare began on a personal note when her parents became residents at Kelmscott, she started visiting regularly.
Discovering a New Passion
What began as simple visits soon transformed into a meaningful commitment. Elaine shares, “I always thought I’d like to volunteer after I retired, but I didn’t know what. Aged care wasn’t on my radar but once I was here, it just felt right.”
Four Years of Meaningful Contributions
Now, four years later, Elaine remains a cherished part of the Kelmscott community. She dedicates her time to supporting activities, engaging in heartfelt conversations, and spreading warmth and energy with each visit. Whether sharing laughs during painting sessions or enjoying quiet chats, Elaine finds true joy in these everyday connections. “I really enjoy the company of others and helping them,” she says. “It’s just good fun, really.”
Cherished Moments and Festive Spirit
Elaine fondly recalls the special moments spent at Kelmscott, especially during the holiday season. “Christmas here with my parents had such a wonderful family feel – it made MercyCare feel like home.”
Encouraging Others to Volunteer
Through her volunteer work, Elaine has gained a deep appreciation for aged care and the dedicated people who work in this sector. She encourages others to get involved: “Do it. If you want to help, then aged care is a great place to start. Any one of us could be in that position one day.”
Thank you, Elaine, for the compassion, time, and positivity you bring to Kelmscott.
