After receiving positive feedback from the community, MercyCare Maddington Residential Aged Care recently invited City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst to enjoy lunch with residents and staff.
Three residents joined Chef Johnson and Abins Mathews, Manager of Maddington RAC, to meet the Mayor.
Chef Johnson hosted a tour of her bustling kitchen, explaining that the food is a careful balance of dairy, carbohydrates, protein, fibre and sugar. The monthly menu is approved by a dietician.
Chef Johnson said that the menu caters to a generation that enjoys a simple meal of meat and vegetables.
“You won’t see any smashed avocado on toast here! If residents are familiar with the food on their plate, they are more likely to finish their meal.”
Chef’s home cooked meal for the day included a main course of roast beef and a mixture of vegetables, and fresh fruit and pudding for dessert.
Mayor Dewhurst thanked everyone for their generous hospitality, “I thoroughly enjoyed myself and enjoyed meeting the residents and staff members”.
