Intensive Family Support Service Mid-West and Gascoyne

Culturally secure services supporting Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal families to keep children safe at home or return safely to family care.

The Service primarily provides intensive in-home practical support and development of parenting and living skills for families currently working with Communities (with an existing open case) and where there is a need for extra support to improve family wellbeing and safety.

Support includes practical parenting education and skill development for parents and/or pre-birth families, focusing on living skills, child mental health, education, safety, and protective family skills.

The Service caters to families who are often experiencing disadvantage, complex challenges, and trauma, including intergenerational trauma.

The service is delivered across 3 locations – Geraldton, Meekatharra and Carnarvon – servicing remote communities in between.

Case Management and in home supports are provided by a dedicated Case Worker who works within the MercyCare Trauma Informed Framework and Bundiyarra Family Framework which places Families at the centre of what we do ensuring Families are:

  • Connected
  • Supported
  • Healthy
  • Safe
  • Respected
  • Inspired
  • Informed
  • Heard

Referrals are received via the Department of Communities with supports being provided to families for up to 12 months.
